About Us

Balika Regeneration was founded by ASEAN Architect Ronnie Yumang and Marison Yumang alongside their daughter Josette Margaux. Leaving behind the fast paced life of Manila, they embraced a regenerative lifestyle in the quiet town of Alfonso, Cavite. Through their work, an incremental change combining resurgence of age old artisanal crafts and tradition to create spaces that cothrive with other species. Natural Building Materials

Natural building materials and methods offer a regenerative, healthier, and more harmonious approach to construction. By using resources like earth, wood, and stone, we reduce our negative impact, create breathable and toxin-free spaces, and foster a deeper connection with the environment. These methods are not only durable and energy-efficient but also celebrate hundreds to thousands of years craftsmanship, blending tradition with modern design for a timeless and eco-friendly lifestyle.

About Natural Building Materials

Rammed Earth

We are pioneers of Rammed Earth construction in the Philippines. Since 2018, we have been dedicated to constructing, innovating, and refining this ancient building technique to suit the unique challenges of tropical climates. Over time, we’ve enhanced the process, developing a patented system that significantly improves its earthquake resistance, ensuring both durability and safety. Through years of dedication, we’ve cultivated a team of passionate artisans who are committed to preserving and advancing the heritage of earthen construction. We take great pride in creating exceptional works of rammed earth art, blending tradition with modern innovation to leave a lasting impact on the built environment.
balika artisanal wood

Artisanal Wood

In our commitment to developing regenerative materials, we focus on optimizing the use of softwood—an often overlooked resource with tremendous benefits. Softwood grows rapidly, is abundant, and serves as a vital habitat for other life forms, making it an ideal material for regenerative construction. We prioritize using the wood in its natural form, enhancing its unique characteristics while minimizing waste. With each harvest, we responsibly replant, ensuring continuous regeneration. We advocate for the use of wood as a sustainable alternative to finite and destructive materials like concrete, recognizing that wood regenerates faster and supports the health of our ecosystems.

Neo Tabique Pampango

We are revitalizing the use of wattle and daub, known locally as tabique pampango, a 200-year-old construction technique passed down from our ancestors in the Philippines.

Rammed Earth Blocks

Expanding the potential of rammed earth, we have developed earthen blocks as a regenerative alternative to traditional concrete masonry units. These blocks are not only durable and abundant but also retain the authenticity and natural beauty of their clay origins.
balika earthen pool

Earthen Pool + Ponds

Balika earthen pools and ponds are crafted using sustainable natural methods, emphasizing harmony with the environment. Utilizing termitarium soil for its exceptional bonding properties, clay for its water retention capabilities, and natural geometry for structural strength, these pools are designed to last.

Furnitures + Fixtures

Exploring Regenerative materials for furnitures and fixture that allows us to craft pieces that are not just functional but also embody the beauty of natural art.
